Strategic Co-design and opportunity detection

A decade ago, we started a study funded by Ministry of Economy and Business of the Government of Spain and the Department of Economic Promotion of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa called Ignition Health. The aim was to study the possibilities that technology could offer in social and health care environments at home with the idea of imagining possible services in the home sector. It was a study of a humanistic, technical and economic research. We decided to observe reality and identify what worked under similar circumstances and what did not work. The technology that worked was that which was helpful at home. This was evident in cases where older people began to feel fragile and needed a service that was affordable and provided peace of mind. Technology was an answer to genuine need at an affordable price for citizens. The study gave us the possibility of laying the foundations for further work that we carried out in this field. The conclusion was clear, if the service was to offer peace of mind, there had to be a real person behind the technology to attend in cases of emergency. Publications

New products and services

Co-designing new proposals: (Open and accessible innovation)

Social Economy initiatives that provided assisting services in the home environment were analysed identifying the SSI Group cooperative of integrated social services as a possible partner. We participated in a European project called ReAAL, with the idea of testing technologies that could help home social workers. Today all the assistants who work at SSI have a Smartphone due to a strategic, digital transformation plan that they launched 4 years ago. Nowadays, we continue to pay attention to the business possibilities that this field can offer private clients.

At the request of BetiON and together with its team and the Alzheimer’s associations of Araba, Bizkaia and Gipuzkoa, we designed and implemented co-creation sessions to adapt BetiON services for people in the first stages of cognitive deterioration.

Digital strategy

Codesigning new proposals: (Open and accessible innovation)

100 elderly people from small and mid-sized urban settlements in the Goierri area participating in diagnosis to measure their physical fragility and implement gymnastic exercises to stop cognitive deterioration. The scheme was mplemented from home over two years. Local governments were also involved. The projects were called GoiOsasunLab and GoiOsasunLab II and were financed by Adinberri.
